Walton County hosted three public workshops for the Walton County Land Development Code Update. The workshops were held on Monday, November 14, 2017 at the South Walton Courthouse Annex in Santa Rosa Beach; Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Freeport Community Center in Freeport; and Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Rosemary Beach Town Hall in Rosemary Beach. Thank you to all who came out to provide their comments and ideas.
At the workshops, attendees were introduced to the Land Development Code update project and learned what the Land Development Code is, how it relates to the Comprehensive Plan, the scope and timing of the project, and how to stay involved. Additional discussion with attendees focused on the issues of monster homes, developing standards that promote compatibility between adjacent uses, and other issues raised by the attendees. The following two documents are part of Phase III of III of the Comprehensive Plan Update for Walton County and include the Draft Intergovernmental Coordination Element and the Draft Public School Facilities Element.
The Intergovernmental Coordination Element was previously heard before the Planning Commission on August 21, 2017. This Element was tabled by the Board of County Commissioners at a meeting on September 12, 2017 and will be heard before the Board of County Commissioners at a public hearing to be scheduled in 2018.
The Public School Facilities Element, as proposed, is rescinded since the State of Florida no longer requires this element in the Comprehensive Plan and many of the policies have been incorporated in the revised Draft Intergovernmental Coordination Element.
